🔧 Step 1: Evaluate the Soil and Slope
Before we touch a single roll of sod, we:
Check for compaction
Look at drainage paths
Grade the soil so water flows away from the home, not toward it
Remove debris, old turf, and leftover roots
Laying sod on uneven or unprepped ground is asking for failure — we fix that first.
🛠 Step 2: Prep the Surface the Right Way
We don’t just “loosen the soil” and call it good.
We:
Till the top few inches if needed
Rake to create a level, compactable surface
Add fresh topsoil or compost mix if the base is poor
Roll and settle the surface so the sod sits flat
